| A CD-ROM game of interactive, open-ended engineering problems to solve by using math and science skills, designed to help middle and high school students explore and apply some of the fundamental principles of engineering. Time Engineers encourages trial-and-error experimentation, allowing students to adjust variable factors in their attempts to solve problems successfully. Students navigate a Time Pod through a series of time periods, such as Ancient Egypt (experiment with ramps, workers, and the type of stone to build pyramids), World War II (design a stealth submarine or a radar system), and the Middle Ages (design a drawbridge and a catapult). The content, delivered through narration, text and interactive exercises, includes binary numbers, Boolean logic, weirs and water flow, force balance, and trajectory. The sequel game, Time Engineers II, lets students and classrooms compete against each other through the use of the World Wide Web to achieve the goal of being the most efficient engineer. Comes with an E-guide for teachers and parents, and downloadable lesson plans. Also available at http://www.software-kids.com/Products/products.html | |
