Description: The year 1998 marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of M.C. Escher (1898-1972). To celebrate the legacy of this remarkable artist, a congress was held at the University of Rome on 24-26 June, 1998, followed by a conference in Ravello (a small town on the Amalfi coast, 50 km south of Naples) on 27-28 June, 1998. Speakers were invited from the fields of mathematics, science, art, education, psychology, media and other areas, and there was also a program of short contributed papers.
