QUESTION: If I type my students' first and last names when I'm setting up their accounts, will those names appear anywhere on the Internet?

If a student's solution is highlighted, the name (any of the possibilities listed below) used to generate the username, will be used on the publicly viewable site. If your school prefers that students not have their full name visible, please consider the second or third option listed below.

First Name, Last Name
If the student's first name and last name are both entered, then the user name is the first name's first character added to the entirety of the last name entered.
Example: John Doe --> JDoe

Note: If someone in the system was already given that username, the system appends numbers to the end of the name until a unique username has been generated.

First Name, Last Initial
If the student's first name and last initial are both entered, then the user name is the entirety of the first name added to the last initial.
Example: John D --> JohnD

Note: If someone in the system was already given that username, the system appends numbers to the end of the name until a unique username has been generated.

First Name
If the last name is omitted, then the user name is the entirety of the first name.
Example: John --> John

Note: If 'John' has already been taken, the system will try 'John1', John2', etc, until it finds a user name that has not yet been taken.
